Arguably better than the original, the roots and rise of a young Don Vito(Robert De Niro), and the ascension of Michael (Al Pacino) as the new Don make The Godfather Part II one of my faves of all time. That's right, I said better. You wanna go to the mattresses?
Sit down with a bowl of pasta in your PJs and watch them all if you can commit.
The Film di Film
The Godfather Part II
presents two parallel storylines. One involves Mafia chief Michael Corleone in 1958/1959 after the events of the first movie; the other is a series of flashbacks following his father, Vito Corleone from 1917 to 1925, from his youth in Sicily (1901) to the founding of the Corleone family in New York.
The film begins in 1901, in the town of Corleone in Sicily, at the funeral of young Vito's father, Antonio Andolini, who has been murdered for an insult to the local Mafia lord, Don Ciccio. Ooooo this is getting good.
"It made me think of what you once told me: 'In five years the Corleone family will be completely legitimate.' That was seven years ago."
Rosso Vino
Director's Cut Cinema Cabernet Zinfandel from the Francis Ford Coppola winery. A blend of the Director's Cut Zinfandel, which is aged in French oak adding the essence of toasted spice, French vanilla, rum raisin, black currant, and red cherry with the cabernet that has aromas of cola, cherry, and eucalyptus before revealing dark, rich berries, cassis and clack cherries.
Delizioso!
Birra
Old Godfather Barley Wine-Style Ale, an American barley wine that's 10.2 percent alcohol by volume. You'll fuggeddabouttit.
